I don't live in Minnesota, should I hire a local web designer?

Not necessarily. One of the biggest advantages of web design over other professions is that it can be done from anywhere in the world. It really doesn't matter if you live in Minneapolis, New York or Omaha as long as you're able to communicate with your web design company. Many professional web designers do a terrific job without ever meet their clients, and so do we. For smooth communication we offer several convenient ways to contact us.

Do you charge anything for web consultation?
No. In fact we'd be happy to give you free advice. Just contact us at any time via email, phone or Live Chat and we'll answer any questions you may have. If possible we may also arrange for a meeting so we can personally discuss any concerns, again free of charge.

What are the costs involved in getting a website?
The costs involved in getting a website include 2 small fees for website hosting services and domain name registration and of course the cost of labor which may vary from one web design project to another. If you plan on having a secure website, there is an additional cost for the purchase of a secure certificate (SSL). Visit our packages page for more information.

How long does it take to complete a website?
This really depends on how complex the website is and what it requires. An average 5-page website should take no longer than 2-3 weeks to complete while others may take longer. If having a running website is an urgent matter, we may be able to put it on high priority and complete it within a few days (that's including eCommerce websites).

How does the process work?
The general process from start to finish is:

A meeting either by phone or in person to discuss the requirements and structure of the project.

We present a formal proposal for your review and approval. At this time, a 50% deposit is required to begin work.

You will need to pull together the content you want on your website (i.e. texts and/or special images). If help is needed, we offer content writing services as well.

We submit completed web pages for your review and apply reasonable changes you may have. Once we complete the entire website, we'll walk you through and explain how to use it if necessary.

Once you give us a final approval, the remaining balance is due and we push your website live on the internet!

Working together is important so we can provide you with the best possible service and also complete the project in the agreed upon time frame.

Can I make changes to my website after it is already up?
Yes. We have no problem applying changes that are reasonable in nature such as modifying text or adding links. We do not charge for any of these changes as long as they do not go significantly beyond what's listed in the formal proposal.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards as well as bank-to-bank transfers via PayPal. Other acceptable payment methods are personal checks, money orders and wire transfers. For wired transfers, we hold bank accounts with Wells Fargo and Washington Mutual.

What does "Domain Name" mean and why do I need it?
Domain name is also known as URL or web address. arielwebdesign.com is an example for domain name. Every website must have a unique domain name in order for visitors to access it. Although many good names are already in use, it is possible to come up with unique and catchy domain name.

What do I need a website hosting service for?
Website hosting is essential for the purpose of storing your website files. Additionally, if your website incorporates some more elaborated functions, a database which comes free with your website hosting is also required.

I saw a website that I really liked, can you build the same for me?
Not exactly. We cannot duplicate someone else's website because it is unethical and is also a violation of copyrights. If you came across a website that you liked, we will do our best to create something that falls within a similar design concept.

How can I get maximum exposure for my website?
A good way to bring traffic into your website is by subscribing to pay-per-click services such as Google AdWords. Additionally, you may use our Website Optimization Services to increase your website's potential to a maximum.
Another good way to increase exposure is to advertise your website on business cards, street signs, newspapers and other websites.

Which search engines should I submit my website to?
You do not need to submit your website to search engines because we will do it for you. The most important search engines are Google, Yahoo and MSN. These account for over 95% of all internet searches, so it would be safe to say that you're covered. Other search engines such as AOL, Earthlink and Netscape are fed by search results from the major three.

I'd like to sell few items online. Do I need an eCommerce website?
If you intend to offer only few products or services on your website, an eCommerce website may be too elaborated of a solution and it can also be costly. We are able to offer you other eCommerce solutions that are more suitable for your needs and are also much more affordable.
